The fall guy
Article Abstract:
The Olympics organizing career of Phil Coles is over, and his downfall is due to his suspected treachery over the failed bid to secure the 1996 Olympics in Melbourne; the need for a media scapegoat in the Salt Lake City 2002 games bidding allegations; and the coveting of his International Olympic Committee (IOC) delegate position. Coles felt most betrayed by Australian Olympic Committee chairman John Coates, who has abandoned Coles and may seek his IOC post.
