Article Abstract:
The statistical data of number of women occupying senior positions is presented. According to a survey on Fortune 500 companies, between 1996 and 2000 the Fortune 500 companies with the highest proportion of women in senior management roles had a 35% higher return on equity and a 34% higher total return to shareholders than companies with the lowest women's representation. The reasons behind less number of women making it to the top ladder are discussed.

The measure of WORK-LIFE balance at Australian workplaces is given by the survey Work/Life initiatives: The Way Ahead, which concludes that offering workplace flexibility reduces absenteeism, staff turnover and stress, and increases staff satisfaction and productivity.
