Strategic groups, mobility barriers, and competitive advantage: an empirical investigation
Article Abstract:
The performance of personal cosmetics manufacturers were compared for an eight-year and two-year period. They were identified according to the kind of strategy or combinations of strategies they applied to gain a competitive advantage in the market. The strategy variables include advertising, new product development, pricing, manufacturing, firm size and product scope. Companies that were able to change strategies to maintain market share performed better than those which could not adapt readily.
