BMG and Universal said to form Internet venture

Universal Music and BMG are expected to announce a joint venture between the two, the #1 and #2 record companies in the U.S. The venture is for Internet sites that will build off of sites that already exist and will be expanded with music sales and advertising. The #2 and #3 record companies, Warner Music and Sony Music, already have formed a joint online store called Total E. But the current leaders in selling music online are CDNow and Amazon.com.
