Qantas is conducting secret training for strikebreakers to take hard line against unions for which it is using Overseas labor to cut costs and to use them in case union negotiations with the international division of the Flight Attendants Association of Australia (FAAA) breaks down. They thus, secured greater efficiency and cost reductions, in order to remain competitive in the aviation industry.

Qantas officials confirmed that Jetstar will be the company's low-cost airline that will take on competition but still some staff is unhappy about the plan. Insiders insist that many top-level executives at Qantas had opposed the move to start a low-cost airline but the airline's chief executive stuck to his decision and went ahead with his plans.
