Three adult PC games you can give friends with no grisly deaths
Article Abstract:
Viacom New Media's $30 Zoop, Activision's $30 Shanghai Great Moments and Boxer Jam's online Strike-A-Match computer games are all highly addictive games that do not use violence but do require cunning and intelligence. Zoop is a puzzle game that requires players to protect a square area in the center of the screen. Waves of different colored shapes steadily advance on the square. Players must zap them with a triangle found inside the square, but they can only zap shapes of the same color. If a shape is zapped that is a different color, then the triangle changes to that color. Zoop is an outstanding game that requires 8MB of RAM. It is available for both Windows and Macintosh. Shanghai Great Moments is based upon the ancient Chinese mah-jongg game. Players are required to match tiles. This new version includes several new features including new tile sets, layouts and variations. Strike-A-Match is an online word association found only on America Online.

Before you cruise the Internet, get the right road map
Article Abstract:
Pipeline and NetCruiser are two inexpensive and user-friendly software online service packages designed to make it easier to access the Internet's World Wide Web hypertext segment and other Internet options. Membership to the Pipeline service starts at $15 a month and includes free Pipeline software. Many users, however, will find it more economical to opt for the $20 per month option, which provides 20 hours of Internet connectivity. Additional hours cost $2 each. Pipeline's connectivity software is among the most powerful and elegant of the Internet access packages and even allows users to perform several tasks at once, such as browsing an Internet home page while downloading E-mail. Netcom offers the NetCruiser service and Internet software option. The NetCruiser service is a bargain at $19.95 per month for 40 hours Internet access at peak hours and unlimited access during non-peak weekday and weekend hours.

Software that can make filing taxes slightly less horrible
Article Abstract:
Intuit's $50 TurboTax and Block Financial's $40 Kiplinger Tax Cut tax preparation software can help minimize the difficulties and frustrations of filing tax returns. Both software packages ask a series of questions, then offer computerized versions of tax forms based on responses. Financial information can be imported from the previous years' tax forms or from some financial software packages. TurboTax, from the makers of Quicken financial software, features a constant tally of taxes or refunds as figures are entered. The interface is excellent, with questions worded clearly. TurboTax integrates with state tax software for 44 states, while Tax Cut has matching software for only 23 states. Tax Cut's interview section is quick and simple, but its published forms are not as organized as those generated by TurboTax. Tax preparation software is only appropriate for standard tax situations.
