It is in the national interest of Australia to develop global champions, rather than be complacent while other economies struggle. Since gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to pick up to about 4% in 2004, exports will benefit from the passing of SARS, stronger global bilateral and multi lateral trade reforms, easing of drought in most parts of regional Australia, and promoting an outward culture.
