To be or not to be? That is conception! Managing in vitro fertilization programs
Article Abstract:
In vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) is a process that involves the removal of eggs from a patient for fertilization in the laboratory and the placing of these fertilized eggs in the patient's womb. The probability of conceiving through the IVF-ET technique is low, about 12% in the US, so that it is relatively common for women to undergo this process repeatedly. A model for managing these repeat cycles is introduced, one that divides women into those who will never get pregnant through the IVF-ET program and those whose per cycle conception probabilities are stable. This model proposes a method for computing certain quantities that may be used to determine when some women should be taken off the IVF-ET program, thus effectively minimizing waiting time for admission to a program, as well as time spent in treatment.

NAA airs programs on ATV network
Article Abstract:
Since 1982, the National Association of Accountants (NAA) has produced a number of videos on technical accounting topics for such corporate subscribers as IBM, Rockwell International, and J.C. Penney. Beginning in January 1987, the NAA will collaborate with the Center for Video Education to form the Accountants Television Network (ATV). ATV will produce monthly programs on accounting subjects. Each program will include exercises and self-study aids, so that viewing the programs will be an active, rather than a passive experience. Also, each program will be worth four hours of continuing education credits in managerial accounting.
