Toiletries/cosmetics industry
Article Abstract:
Most of the stocks in the toiletries/cosmetics industry are expected to perform well in 1998, although not as rapidly as they did in 1997, as it will be difficult for major companies to expand their market share. The gains in savings, efficiency, and market share will come mainly through consolidation in the established markets, and international opportunities. Investors should seek companies with dominant markets and solid franchises.

Toiletries/cosmetics industry
Article Abstract:
Stocks in the toiletries and cosmetics industry outperformed other industries in 1998 and the same good results are expected in 1999, also, but at a slower pace. Product innovation and demographics, along with opportunities in overseas markets, are positive factors for the industry, as well. A record of rising nets-per-share during economic slowdowns make these stocks attractive for 1999.
