Trucking & transport leasing
Article Abstract:
Business conditions are poor in both the truckload and less-than-truckload sectors of the trucking industry. High costs due to increased driver pay, weak demand, low volume, and price pressures are making earnings difficult. Two significant moves are the Roadway Express spinoff from Roadway Services and the WorldWay acquisition by Arkansas Best. These stocks are not timely and better investments can be found elsewhere.

Trucking & transport leasing
Article Abstract:
Earnings for trucking companies are exceptionally lower in 1995 due to weak pricing and soft demand. Results for the 2nd qtr of 1995 and for 1996 will be much lower than expected, and several companies may lose money. Lost tonnage, lower prices, and a 3% rise in labor rates will cut deeply into future earnings. Trucking stocks have lost 10% of their value in 1995, and this underperformance is expected to continue.

Trucking & transport leasing
Article Abstract:
The trucking industry is mixed for 1995 with some companies doing well and others experiencing a slowdown. Rates are stable for less-than-truckload carriers, but truckload carriers have had difficulty maintaining prices. Cost containment is under control industrywide and most companies should see economic benefits in 1995. Trucking stocks did not do well in 1994 and may not be good investments for 1995.
