NATO's 60,000-member force began its peace-keeping operations in Bosnia in Dec 1995, and the US contingent finished building a bridge across the Sava River on Dec 31, 1995. The UN officially relinquished control of the region to NATO and the European Union pledged $500 million towards reconstruction.

Zepa safe area falls to Bosnian Serbs; Western allies threaten air strikes

Serb forces took Zepa, one of the safe haven areas of Bosnia Herzegovina, on Jul 25, 1995. On Jul 21 and 26, 1995, the UN and NATO had threatened air strikes against the Serbs if the safe havens were attacked. The Senate voted on July 26, 1995 to lift the arms embargo against Bosnia.

NATO extends air strike threat to all safe areas in Bosnia-Herzegovina
Article Abstract:
NATO, on Aug 1, 1995, threatened to conduct air strikes against Bosnian Serbs if they continued their assault on the Muslim 'safe' areas of Gorazde, Bihac, Tuzla and Sarajevo. Srebrenica and Zepa have already fallen to the Serbs. Croatia launched an attack into Western Bosnia.
