Uncertainty about litigation losses and auditor's modified audit reports
Article Abstract:
Auditor's reports modified to reflect litigation uncertainties were shown to aggravate both material losses and the potential for litigation losses than audit reports that footnoted disclosure. A survey of firms using both modified auditor's reports and audit reports that footnote disclosure of litigation showed that while losses in modified auditor's losses were lower than those that use unqualified information, this is due to the non-inclusion of other immaterial losses.

The role of institutional ownership in the market for auditing services: An empirical investigation
Article Abstract:
The association between the level of institutional ownership and auditor firm size is examined by focusing on audit, a tool available to shareholders to monitor management. The findings support the assertion-institutional ownership is positively associated with the audit firm size, even after controlling for other variables that could account for such an association, including client firm size, debt, growth and business complexity.
