Computer systems have been assisting professional athletes to improve their abilities for several years. Now several companies have begun manufacturing systems designed for the amateur athlete. Sports Software in Palo Alto, California makes a tennis training gadget, called CompuTennis which carefully plots tennis matches and analyzes problems of the players. Golfers can take advantage of a machine called GolfTek which analyzes a player's golf swing.

Book groups have been in existence in the US since the early 19th century, and in recent years they have become extremely popular. There are now an estimated 250,000 book groups in the US, and women compose 80% of group membership. A bibliography and a list of resources are presented.
