What's new in controlling corporate travel expenses?
Article Abstract:
Travel industry consultant Denis W. Day provides some suggestions for companies on how to effectively cut down business travel costs. Day's two key suggestions to facilitate cost effective business travel are the determination of the necessity of a business trip and the combination of several business trips into a single trip to economize on air fare. Day's other cost-effective suggestions include the designation of a travel manager charged with the tasks of travel arrangement preparations and travel cost monitoring, the development of a formal travel policy, and the hiring of travel consultants who will provide fresh insights to the development of new cost-effective strategies in relation to organizational spending and service quality. A company-travel vendor relationship that is long-range in perspective is considered as most favorable to businesses.

When you lose your job... outplacement executive says 85% find equal or better position
Article Abstract:
Drake Beam Morin Inc Sr VP Wallace E. Fletcher shares his views on why people lose their jobs, and the steps to take following a job loss. Industry-wide layoffs have most commonly occurred because companies or industries have downsized to become more competitive. On a personal level, jobs are most often lost because of personality conflicts with people in authority. The steps to take when informed of a job loss include determining the reasons for the loss; if the company is going to offer a severance package; and which benefits will continue during the severance period.
