Woodside all upside for Shell
Article Abstract:
Royal Dutch/Shell has put in a bid to control Australian oil company, Woodside Petroleum, and although Prime Minister John Howard is in favour of foreign investment, it is uncertain whether Howard will allow the bid to go through or not. With elections coming up in February in Woodside's home state of Western Australia, where Howard is keen to keep premier Richard Court in power to improve his own chances of reelection, Howard is likely to delay his decision until after elections are over.

Woodside out of sight
Article Abstract:
Some of the Australian liquefied natural gas (LNG) companies are trying for a share of LNG supply market in United States. United States is likely to face an acute shortage of LNG. The proposal put forth by Woodside is to process the gas on ship, which will be out of sight, and send it through pipes to the coast using undersea pipeline and onshore storage. Other companies like Petsec Energy too are focused on US energy market. A review of the stock of Petsec is also presented.
