World wire for which bank
Article Abstract:
David Murray, managing director of Australia's Commonwealth Bank (CBA), is planning to increase the bank's foreign revenue by almost 50%, with a target of 25% of income coming from overseas, by expanding CBA's global reach as a leader in online financial services. Murray is a big promoter of electronic commerce and its cost savings. A transaction at a bank costs $2, while the same transaction electronically costs 40 cents. CBA is already well-positioned in electronic commerce with its Commonwealth Securities and web site, the latter of which attracted more than 60 million visits in April 1999.
