Spanish airports authority AENA has been chosen to manage the new airport being constructed near Cayo Coco in Cuba, under an agreement with the Cuban airports authority, Corporacion Aeronautica Cubana (CACSA). The new airport being built by CACSA, called Jardines del Rey, is located 400 km from Havana in one of Cuba's new tourist zones. AENA and CACSA have signed a technical and business cooperation accord which calls for information interchange and staff training.

Private sector builds new Spanish airport
Article Abstract:
Spain's first private sector-backed airport is scheduled to begin construction in Mar 2001. The $185-million airport, which will be built near Ciuda Real, 190 km south of Madrid, Spain, is scheduled to be operational by the start of 2003. Main shareholders of the airport are Aeropuerto de Ciudad Real with a 35% stake, regional savings bank Caja de Castilla-La Mancha with 25% interest, and British-based airports group TBI with a 20% stake.

Private management for Cali Airport
Article Abstract:
The Aerocali consortium has secured a 20-year management concession for Colombia's Cali airport, the country's second largest airport that handles nearly two million passengers annually. The management group is led by Spanish airports and navigation authority, AENA, and includes Spanish construction and services group, Dragados, and Colombian finance company Corficolombiana.
