Training with fire
Article Abstract:
BAA, the UK-based airport operator, took over an $8 million fire training simulator built by UK-based IFTE under a $2.4 million contract. The 300- tonne simulator is a full-size replica of a Boeing 747 with a McDonnel Douglas MD11 tail engine. It can simulate 13 interior fires and 13 exterior fires, allowing the airport fire service to train within a realistic context.
