Huawei Technologies Company Ltd. of China opened an office in Dallas, Texas in 2001. The telecommunications equipment manufacturer has not significantly grown market share winning some small deals with United States telephone companies. The Chinese government is encouraging successful companies to go international with the tighter home market and a desire to grow multinationals.

German firms accused of slave profits

Lawsuits seeking punitive damages for laborers and their heirs for profits reeped from slave labor during the Nazi regime have been filed against 6 German companies. Volkswagen AG, Siemens AG, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, Daimler-Benz AG, Leica Camera AG, and Fried Krupp AG have all been named as defendants in lawsuits filed in the United States.
