A creeping success
Article Abstract:
Nematodes have proved to be useful research subjects for the pharmaceutical industry. They are more complex than single cell organisms, and have some senses found in mammals, such as touch and smell. They are easier laboratory subjects than more complex animals. Devgen, a biotechnology company from Belgium, is one company using nematodes in research. The company is carrying out research on an anti-cancer drug. Pharmacia and Upjohn, meanwhile, are researching Alzheimer's using nematodes.
