A fuzzy set-theoretic method for public facility location
Article Abstract:
A fuzzy set-theoretic model is developed to solve the facility location problem for public sector distribution systems, such as public utilites, waste disposal systems and public service facility systems, characterized by conflicts between cost minimization and service maximization. An optimal solution is achieved for uncapacitated facilities by fuzzifying objective cost and demand requirements using Erlenkotter's dual-based method. Examples are provided to demonstrate the efficiency of the model. The solution method for capacitated facilities is only briefly presented due to complex computational requirements.

A fuzzy set model for market share and preference prediction
Article Abstract:
Fuzzy measurement of evaluations were incorporated into the vector preference model to create a fuzzy set conjoint model of consumer preferences. Preference models are crucial in predicting market share and consumer preferences during new product development. The fuzzy set model converts linguistic variables in product ratings into ordinal measurement scales, which enable the modeling of aggregate market share from individual preference measurements. The utility of the fuzzy set preference model for product design, market segmentation and market share prediction are discussed.

Fuzzy resolution on the infeasibility of variational inequality
Article Abstract:
An approach for solving infeasible variational inequality problems was developed through consideration of fuzzy relation. Consideration of fuzzy relation permits the approach to relax variational inequality problems. The approach calls for the development of an equivalent nonlinear programming model to efficiently determine the fuzzy solution set with polynomially complex computation.
