A gentler Middle Eastern Islam?
Article Abstract:
Inter-Islamist disputes involving reformists and zealots are occurring in the Middle East, both in Iran, and in Arab countries, where political Islam has been suppressed in many cases. There is less emphasis on revolution and more emphasis on reform. Separation of state and religion has been criticized, but when both are joined there can be problems for Islamist dissenters. There are also differences of opinion on Islamic law, with a number of different variants.
