A larger appetite for deals
Article Abstract:
The number of buyout deals in Switzerland reached a record 47 in 1996 from 38 in 1995, according to the Swiss Equity Capital Association. Deals were worth about Sfr1 billion in 1996, with buyouts representing around 25-30% of all merger and acquisition transactions. Buyouts in Switzerland were much larger in 1996 than usual, with around seven buyouts having more than Sfr100 million of sales. Buyouts generally have a positive effect in Switzerland, according to research, and the level of buyouts is expected to remain high.

A2E kicks off with three deals

Amin Amiri has completed three middle-market deals since he began his company, A2E, last year. Other deals are in the works. A corporate financier and former head of Grant Thornton corporate finance in the North of England, Amiri commissions independent research on his own deals in order to determine the extent to which he has helped improve the valuation of companies he has advised.
