Article Abstract:
Fitzroy Robinson's first major completed project in eastern Europe is BKD bank's headquarters building in Budapest, Hungary. The turn of the century building had housed public offices and a fire station and had become run-down. Cellular offices were required with additional accommodation and underground parking. A new fourth floor was created within a new steel roof structure to overcome restrictions on building upwards, and a new atrium was created.

Turning wasteland into an urban community
Article Abstract:
A new mixed-use development in the Kings Cross area of London will bring together a medical centre and 75 homes. This area was extremely run-down, but has a number of attractive features, and the new development will make a valuable contribution to the urban surroundings. It was designed by Avanti Architects, which worked with a number of housing trusts. The housing is due for completion in Jun 1996 and the medical centre in early 1997.
