A multicriteria decision aid approach for energy planning problems: the case of renewable energy option
Article Abstract:
The Multicriteria Decision Aid (MCDA) method when applied in energy policy decisions may consolidate various values into a criteria set and makes assessment of different strategies more objective and acceptable. The methodology provides a distinct recognition of the influence of subjective issues on the final ranking of options. The application of MCDA in energy planning problems is particularly useful in regions in regions like the Crete if the criteria set is altered according to regional particularities.

Model tightening for integrated timber harvest and transportation planing
Article Abstract:
A solution for the Integrated Resource Planning Model of forestry management using commercial software is discussed. The solution requires a three-step preprocessing of the model involving the addition of logical inequalities, lifting of inequalities and selection of Branch-and-Bound branching priorities based on double-contracting variables. It is shown that the solution reduced computation time to a few minutes on a PC from two and a half days on a mainframe.
