A not-so-model system
Article Abstract:
Germany's federal system, and voting system has been represented as fairer than that of the United Kingdom, but doubts have arisen over the model. Federal governments have become involved in the affairs of the German states, and state prime ministers have blocked federal legislation they do not approve of, and need federal approval for funds for projects in the provinces. Poorer states are given aid in a way that does not encourage them to be more efficient, and this also allows the federal government to have more control of the states. Reform is needed, and there have been a number of suggestions.

Canons of conflict
Article Abstract:
Canogate has brought out a version of the Bible with commentaries which has given rise to controversies due to objections from fundamentalists. The publishers see the Bible as a work of literature, while the fundamentalists object to this view. The standards of commentary are high, and the Bible is seen as important by many people who may themselves reject religion. The story of Job carries a commentary that has led to objections, yet the story itself does raise problems due to its portrayal of God.
