Article Abstract:

The problem of determining the capacity of planned railway infrastructure layout under uncertainties is considered. A "timetable"-free approach to avoid the specification of a particular timetable is developed considering a generic infraelement that allows a concise representation of many different combinations of infrastructure, safety systems and traffic regimes.

A fresh view on the tolerance approach to sensitivity analysis in linear programming

Article Abstract:

Using sensitivity analysis in linear programming, tolerance to any disturbance of objective coefficient without affecting the optimal solution is examined. A geometric algorithm that can be integrated in linear programming software to provide tolerance approach to sensitivity analysis is also presented.

Evaluating Kohonen's learning rule: an approach through genetic algorithms

Article Abstract:

The technical foundations of the self-organizing map (SOM) is examined. Kohonen's heuristic-based training algorithm is compared with the direct optimization of a locally - weighted distortion index which is also used by Kohonen and lower values of the distortion index are revealed during experiments.
