A prophet is not without honour, etc
Article Abstract:
British prime minister, Tony Blair, is irritated that his ideas do not appear to be as well received in Britain as abroad, and that the British do not appear to see Britain as having a key international role. The idea of a 'third way' is not British, however, but originated in the US, where it has little meaning, while it is seen as an embarrassment in Europe. Meanwhile, Britain is a medium power in world politics. Blair has been successful in reconciling the Labor Party to market economics, and has been rewarded with a large majority, but he should not seeking to exaggerate his standing and that of Britain.

Gold without honour
Article Abstract:
Six of the 114 members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have been suspended following allegations that they accepted bribes from Salt Lake City, UT, when that city was campaigning to stage the next Winter Olympics. A further three members had already resigned, while three are under investigation and one has been given a warning. These developments are prompting close scrutiny of the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney, Australia, and of bids for the 2004 Olympics. IOC Pres Juan Antonio Samaranch has refused to resign before his term ends in 2001.
