A stand for all seasons
Article Abstract:
The new stand at Cheltenham race course, Cheltenham, UK has been designed by Lobb Sports Architecture which specialises in stadiums and stands. The 10 million pounds sterling stand was built in 11 months and finished in time for the Cheltenham Gold Cup race meeting in 1997. The new stand houses terraces for 2000 standing race goers and can seat 750. There are 180 private boxes and a restaurant seating 300. Glass and steel was used in the construction to increase the field of view for the spectators, as well as angling the stand in towards the course.

Article Abstract:
A new UK 25,000-seat football stadium was opened in Sept 1997, incorporating sports, leisure and recreation facilities. The Reebok Stadium is the new home ground of Bolton Wanderers Football Club and was built in conjunction with the local authority. The stadium was designed by LOBB Sports Architectures, which began the contract in 1994. Conference and exhibition functions have been included in the design, which will enable it to become a profit generating facility. The final cost was just over 25 million pounds sterling.

Article Abstract:
The exploration of the complex form and geometry of the Olympic stadium in Beijing by Herzog & de Meuron and Arupsport was made possible by a range of tools including CAD visualizations and rapid prototypes. The entire technical process right from the concept behind the design to the implementation plan is discussed.
