ANZ takes its card campaign to new heights in Hong Kong

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd.'s (ANZ) advertising campaign in Hong Kong is using a blimp to build brand awareness for its new Pt100 Platinum Visa credit card. The blimp flies over Hong Kong with the bank's slogan 'PT100' and a telephone number. Though data is not yet available regarding how effective the blimp is at bringing new customers, the management of ANZ is pleased with the campaign.

Brisk new-property sales may not signal recovery

New apartments in Hong Kong have been selling briskly due to popular incentives, but the local property markets are not recovered yet. The secondary market for previously owned housing is still struggling, and analysts say that this market gives a truer overall picture of residential housing property in Hong Kong.

Fewer U.S. firms to expand

The American Chamber of Commerce's 2001 Business Outlook Survey indicates that more American businesses intend to expand on mainland China versus Hong Kong. Of those surveyed, 49% had plans to expand Hong Kong operations in comparison to 87% with plans to expand mainland China operations.
