GLAXO
Article Abstract:
Glaxo has a presence in the vitamins, steroids, anti-ulcerants, antibiotics and cough preparation segments. It has tied-up with several local firms for co-marketing products. With the acquisition of Biddle Sawyer, Glaxo has entered into therapeutic segments like gynecology, oncology, orthopedics, diuretics and ophthalmology. These segments will increase Glaxo's total coverage of the Indian market to 56 percent. Glaxo has projected a 14 percent growth in its turnover for the twelve months ended December 1998. Glaxo is likely to gain in terms of market share, wider brand profile, and higher margins after its merger with Burroughs Wellcome. (tsm)(vr)
