AUSTRIA: DELAY FOR WIRELESS LOCAL LOOP
Article Abstract:
Austria's supreme court has issued an interim injunction against a ruling according to which Telekom Austria is excluded from the auction for wireless local loop (WLL) licences. The decision to exclude the former monopoly was justified with the dominant market position of the company. Eighteen companies were accepted as participants in the auction for 14 packets of frequency in 10 regions throughout Austria. The WLL auction was planned for 10 April 2000, but it will now be delayed by no less than 6 months.
