The Italian company Buongiorno.it SpA and Telekom Austria (TA) are to set up a joint venture called Buongiorno Austria. The partners will hold 65% and 25% of the stock, respectively, while Sonja Kohn, chairwoman of the US investment bank Eurovaleur, will hold 10%. Buongiorno Austria is to launch an internet portal that will provide current information to subscribers via e-mail and SMS. By the end of year 2000 the company aims to have 500,000 subscribers. In Italy, www.Buongiorno.it has 700,000 subscribers to more than 50 newsletters.

In Austria, the mobile phone operator Max.mobil is extending its virtual private network offer to small businesses with 5 or more mobile phones. Until now "Company.max VPN with Option Zero" has been available to companies with more than 20 mobiles. For a monthly subscription of Sch 349 per SIM card, calls within the virtual private network are free of charge. Without the zero option, the subscription is Sch 50 cheaper.
