Battle of the big four
Article Abstract:
InterStar, Show TV, ATV, and Channel D are the four major media operators which will fight over market share in Turkey. Channel D manager Sezer indicated that all four have similar advertising expenditure numbers. The Turkish government will assign permanent frequencies for the first time. The four large players can probably shoulder the expected lump sum operating fee for the government. This is in addition to the present 10% cut from advertising revenues. However, the 12 other national channels may suffer.

Sweet taste of success
Article Abstract:
Attic Futura, a magazine publisher in Britain, UK, reaped global success with its fledgling Sugar periodical. The product is aimed at young girls in the 13-to-16-years age bracket. Publisher Clare James believes that Sugar is effective since it deals with its readers as equals rather than subordinates. Mediapolis media manager Anthony Rhind noted that the concept of a glossy youth magazine was unique when Sugar was launched. Sugar is now being marketed in Scandinavia, Germany, the US and Europe.
