Alfa turns down Telenor proposal over VimpelCom

Vimpel-Communications of Russia is in the middle of a battle by its principle shareholders, Telenor A/S of Norway and Alfa-Group of Russia for control of the wireless telecommunications company. The battle was sparked when the mobile phone operator wanted to move into the booming Ukrainian market.
