Reflecting personalities in domestic space: In his first domestic projects, Niall McLaughlin is exploring an architecture that is playful and beautiful, yet pragmatic
Article Abstract:
An architect, in practice since 1990, has designed his first major solo project, which is a rooftop addition to a terraced house in west London. The facade of the building was particularly sensitive to planning issues, and the dormer window is a false one, with natural lighting provided by rooflights. Internally the new upper floor of the extension is the living area and kitchen and units are in the form of shelved recesses or cupboards.
