Allianz's CFO plans to retire in December

Fifty-nine year old Diethart Breipohl, the finance chief of Allianz AG, is planning to retire from his post in December 1999, early than expected. Mr. Breipohl will probably remain as a representative on the new Credit Lyonnais SA' supervisory board. Mr. Breipohl is considered to be one of the most powerful men in German industry. Allianz controls more of corporate Germany than any other firm.

Deutsche Bank adds heft to dividend

German Deutsche Bank AG has announced its intent to increase its 1998 stock dividend. This 22% rise in value is thought to be an attempt by the company to create more interest in the company's finances, which were affected by such crises as that of Brazil's economy. The company has also expressed confidence in future earnings as a result of the recent acquisition of Bankers Trust Corp.
