Minnesota Mining's profit beats estimates amid demand in Asia

Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. posted higher-than-expected earnings for the second-quarter of 1999. The company was helped by a rapidly-expanding economic recovery in the Asian region. The company posted $476 million (446.3 million euros) in net income for the quarter. This comes out to $1.17 per diluted share. During the same period in 1998, Minnesota Mining posted $386 million.
