US Airways, America West near deal

US Airways Inc. and America West Holdings Corp. are close to announcing a merger and are hoping to raise as much as $400 million from potential equity investors. The airlines are also in advanced negotiations with Airbus S.A.S. in a deal that would see the French aircraft manufacturer provide them with a loan of $250 million in exchange for an order of roughly 20 A350 jetliners.
