Andre Weil
Article Abstract:
Andre Weil was a mathematician who traveled to the US after Germany invaded France in the 1939-1945 war. He saw his role as a mathematician as more important than taking part in the war. The Institute for Advanced Study appointed him professor at Princeton. He was a founder of a French group of mathematicians called the Bourbaki Group, which changed the way that math was taught. He was awarded the Kyoto prize in basic science, and his work helped espionage agencies to send more secure messages.
