Sir William Whitfield, the master planner of the newly completed Paternoster Square development, has succeeded as a planner after many years of debate and constant change and is celebrating a well-deserved retirement at the age of 83. A look at his life and career tells us about the attitudes adopted by him in different times and situations in life.

Sir Philip Powell, in association with Jacko Moya, contributed to the construction of post-war, humanitarian, and modern buildings in Britain. His architectural achievements, the distinguished positions he held, and the knighthood conferred on him, all reveal his greatness as an architect and a gentleman.

Article Abstract:
The structural designs of the Sainsbury centre at the University of East Anglia is discussed. The original ribbed cladding in the exterior of the Sainsbury centre is replaced with smooth white panels in 1988.
