Sir William Whitfield, the master planner of the newly completed Paternoster Square development, has succeeded as a planner after many years of debate and constant change and is celebrating a well-deserved retirement at the age of 83. The structural designs of the Sainsbury centre at the University of East Anglia is discussed. The original ribbed cladding in the exterior of the Sainsbury centre is replaced with smooth white panels in 1988.
