Researcher Joseph Kirschvink has discovered trace amounts of magnetite in the human brain. This has potential far-reaching implications. Some animals that have magnetite as part of their compositions react to the earth's magnetic field from a direction-finding perspective. This also leads to questions about cancers possibly caused by power lines.
