Austria: Restructuring at Austro Control
Article Abstract:
The Austrian company responsible for airline and flight security, Austro Control, expects its profit on ordinary activities to decrease by 50% to about Sch 45mn in 2001 compared to 2002. To combat the problem, the company is to spend Sch 200mn on restructuring, introducing measures including the reduction of overtime, holidays and bonuses and pay rises. It is expected that the company will shed 100 jobs by 2006. Overflight fees will increase by 6.2%. The situation in the international aviation industry following 11 September 2001 is blamed for the problems.
