Baan's results fall short of forcasts; sharp drop
Article Abstract:
Baan NV (Barneveld, Netherlands) reported worse than expected earnings for the fourth quarter, that resulted in a drop in the price of the company's shares. Losses of $294.7 million or $1.45 per share was in contrast to last year's profit of $29.1 m or $0.15 per share. Sales were down from $215.6 to $131.1 m for the same period last year. For 1998, losses totalled $315.2 m or $1.59 per share. The head of the company pointed out that Baan and its competitors all lost money, due partly to the economic slowdown.
