Bagged cement
Article Abstract:
The cement industry in Asia has seen a number of acquisitions as foreign companies have moved in. The main six cement companies world wide are likely to have acquired most of the industry in Asia in the few years from 1999. There is concern that unless acquisitions are made, cement producers will have to compete against local producers which sell more cheaply. South East Asia has accounted for the bulk of the acquisitions, with South Korea seen as less attractive due to the maturity of its economy and transportation subsidies helping domestic producers.
