Barclays to put a U.S. banker on its Board

Barclays PLC of the United Kingdom is expected to appoint Bob Diamond to the Board of Directors. Mr. Diamond is an executive with the banking giant who turned the investment banking unit into gold by doubling its pretax profit between 2000 and 2004. Barclays PLC posted a 20 percent increase in net profit of 3.31 billion Pounds in 2004 from 2.77 billion Pounds in 2003.
