Beijing's WTO entry to benefit companies in North Asia
Article Abstract:
Industries set to gain from China's membership to the World Trade Organization are those that provide products or services needed in China, namely telecommunications-equipment manufacturers, auto-parts makers, petrochemical companies, and financial services firms. While North Asia is expected to benefit from the entry, South Asia may suffer as it's business gets shifted to China where employment costs are less and the market is larger.

Down with the dollar
Article Abstract:
Analysts predict that exchange rates in Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia and India are apt to suffer along with the U.S. dollar as their export-dependent economies force interest rate reductions. Only China has a strong currency, as the country still reports rising interest rates, increasing investment and continued economic growth.

Chinese deflation creates fears throughout Asia
Article Abstract:
Excessive production capacity is creating deflation in China. Chinese companies are trying to sell their cut-price goods to other Asian nations, thereby bringing prices down across the region. The trend is expected to grow worse with China's entry into the World Trade Organization. Deflation in other Asian countries and the United States is also discussed.
