Belgian waffle
Article Abstract:
The Belgian law allowing that country's courts to try war crimes cases no matter where they were committed or who the suspects were was a exercise in hubris. The government has now toned down the law by confining it to cases involving Belgian citizens or those who have lived in Belgium for at least three years. The author of this editorial argues that tyrants and criminals should be tried locally and the Belgian law should be completely abolished.
