Beyond clothes
Article Abstract:
Clothing retailers that are evolving into lifestyle stores are becoming popular in Canada. They make one-stop-shopping easier for customers by offering a wide range of merchandise, such as clothing, housewares, home furniture, appliances and desk accessories. Companies including Chateauworks, Club Monaco Inc, Roots and Eaton's of Canada Ltd have joined the lifestyle bandwagon since the introduction of the first large store format in 1996 in Toronto by Philadelphia-based Urban Outfitters Inc.

Dismantling the barricades
Article Abstract:
Pharmaceutical retailers are busy trying to change their image as well as improve the customer's shopping experience. To encourage higher sales, some are getting rid of the cosmetics counters that almost serve like barricades while some are putting up consultation booths with pharmacists. The makeover is timely for pharmaceutical retailers whose competitors have expanded to include mass merchandisers and grocery stores that are also selling their products.
