Big Apple spurns chance of a new beginning
Article Abstract:
Daniel Libeskind's winning architectural design at the World Trade Center site in New York City includes various angular glass buildings, a tall tower and a subterranean memorial. Although Libeskind claims that many concerns would be balanced, there was criticism that commercial matters would take priority over human matters. Larry Silverstein, the Trade Center leaseholder, is critical of the Libeskind design.

Martin Pawley: Sincere monumentalists lose out to politicians in WTC development
Article Abstract:
The monumentalists who wanted to commemorate the 9/11/01 event in their architectural design plan for the World Trade Center site appeared to have lost out to political and business interests. Winner Daniel Libeskind had tried to take a Ground Zero monument into consideration in his design, but his jagged office blocks and a huge 1,776 ft tower could be more pleasing to the politicians.
